we know now how therapeutic working in a garden can be - watching things grow. as a child i didn't know about that, but i loved working in the garden and seeing how much pleasure my Mom took in being there too. us kids would plant seeds, water, find earthworms and actually cut them in half to "help" them multiply. good memories....
Sabbath, October 24 was Creation Sabbath. At the Cambodian Adventist School they took the whole week to celebrate creation and then all students got into the spirit of planting on Friday. however, some of that "planting" involved only placing pots and bagged plants in the right places for landscaping, not yet in the ground. i was able to join in the process on Sunday morning helping loosen the soil, uncover the plants and plant them so that their roots could dig down for water and nutrients and support real growth.
i am glad that God didn't stop in creation week with just placing plants on top of the soil, but gave them roots and means of growing. and it wasn't just plants, he did the same with his children. we have a role now to stretch our roots deep in His word and grow - and reach out in His love to help others develop their full potential too.
